Entry 7: and then there are fun surprises!

measles

So, most of my blood work results have come back and lucky me, I’m not immune to Measles?!  What?! I knew my parents were a bit flaky, but how did they forget to immunize me for measles?  Isn’t this some medieval shit?! I’m going to get to the bottom of this the next time I see them!

In the meantime, apparently, it’s not a big deal and apparently, not so medieval: Recent Disney outbreak. It can become a big deal with pregnancy (why didn’t they tell me this when I was undergoing IUI?) so if you’re trying to get pregnant, make sure you’re immune to Measles, Chicken Pox, etc. – I’m sure most people with sane parents are!

What I’m really interested in is my AMH levels – again, this is the hormone that is the best indication of Ovarian Reserve – I still don’t have those results and of course, I’m freaking out a bit.  If those levels are low, I’ll have to have a serious conversation with my doctor about what my chances are of getting enough stimulation to produce at least a dozen healthy eggs.  I’m just not sure I can go through with this procedure and the costs associated with it if my chances of eventually producing a live birth out of it are lower than the average (which is only about 31% at my age!).

Stay tuned . . .

I feel like we’re on the same journey thus far. Same scenario with the measles! Thank you for posting this blog. So nice to have someone else’s journey to identify with along the way.
